  38. We heard the beacons loud and clear but the transponders were
  39. absolutely silent.  Was this just a case of a really bad squint angle
  40. or was there something else going on?

  63. Not really. The commented source code needs to be made availeble so that 
  64. programmers don't have to re-invent the wheel to add functions to the unit.

  71. Yes, but unlike the Grace unit, AEA does not encourage outside development. 
  72. This means that all improvements are written by them ONLY. It took them well 
  73. over a year just to get the step outputs working for the PSK Pacsats...

  77. Unfortunately, no. Although they do use the same DSP chip (56001), their 
  78. control processors are completely different, as well as their underlying 
  79. operating systems.

  81. I have been using the DSP-12 for three years now, and I thoroughly enjoy it. 
  82. If I ever get some time to play with it, I would love to do some programming 
  83. with it. You can't do that with the DSP-2232...

  94. Over the years, I seen a lot of different ways of elements being sent. They 
  95. seem to have boiled down to two types, Amsat and Two line. This is fine, since 
  96. most tracking programs will read both, but there seems to be no 
  97. standardization for filenames.

  99. This makes it very difficult for programmers and users alike to find these 
  100. files when it comes time to update. Since this is done as often as 3 times a 
  101. week or more, I think that there should be some sort of standardization for 
  102. the filenames used.

  104. I won't go into what I have been thinking of, since I would rather hear 
  105. completely fresh opinions, unbiased by my suggestions. I have had a few 
  106. responses on the two Kitsats where I posted a similar request, but I want to 
  107. hear from as many as possible before throwing out a proposition.

  109. Filenamse are not the only problem. Usually there is extraneous text included 
  110. in the files. This text, though sometimes informative, is enough to drive a 
  111. programmer to take up knitting instead! If anyone has ideas on how to separate 
  112. this extra text, while preserving useability, I would love to hear it!!!

  114. I will be checking this area for about a week before I formulate a 
  115. proposition, which I will send out for comment, and then present to Amsat, 
  116. NASA, and whoever else might help in implementing a standard.

  146. What Satellites are able to be used over Europe ?? What kind of antenna
  147. can be used, other than the parabolic antennas ??? What bands are available
